There’s only so many ways you can start a pod in Citadel. Either, you come from another MM with exceptional track record, or you join a pod as a sub-PM and then somehow generate alpha that’s so huge and scalable that they let you spin out and build your own pod.

Source: I worked there, and I know someone personally that set up his own pod there.

Anyone have experience with citadel pods. Wanted to know more information about the pods at citadel and what it takes to build one out and take it there

Don't mean to be rude, but to be honest -- unless you already have a contact or a mentor who you can ask this question to directly, then I don't think you're ready to even think about starting your own pod at Citadel. Try to get in to an existing pod first and see how that goes.

And if you're building a pod, why the focus on citadel exclusively? You'd want to shop around all the funds to see who will give you the best terms, and if that happens to be some other firm (even a 2nd tier one) then you should go there instead of chasing the citadel brand name.

That's not true. Citadel is every year recruiting dozens of PMs to launch new pods.

My PM is getting contacted twice a year by Citadel to ask him to move in from our current fund (for bigger book and better payout).

Only thing you need is a good track record and a repatable process.

However, it's true that you shouldn't focus your attention only on Citadel, that's pointless.

No I know the other MMs I just want to hear peoples experience in Citadel, thats all. I dont care about brand name or anything

If you need to ask this question in such an open-ended, clearly inexperienced fashion on an internet forum, then you don't need to worry about starting a pod anywhere. Let alone one at Citadel.
