Starting at a fund, advice for hitting the ground running?

I'll be starting at a L/S fund and wanted to get some advice on how to prepare as a fresh investment analyst. The people at the fund have been around for a long-time and I'm afraid of coming across like an idiot because of inexperience in investing.

My plan:
- Read, read, and read books on investing, industry primers and HF letters
- Keep building models for practice
- Actively try to come up with one good idea a week
- Talk to alumni in the industry about their experiences

I would appreciate any advice on preparation.
