Time between positive feedback to definitive answer?
Hi All,
I interviewed on site with a Chicago-based hedge fund in early December. During the last month after the interview, I spoke with the HR person several times, they gave me positive feedback and put me in the finalist pool. However, I still haven't got a definitive answer now, given that it is almost two months after my on-site interview, I am wondering whether it is normal. What should I do?
Thanks! B
If it's the big Chicago hedge fund that sounds like a castle or a city, be a little more patient and compare notes with anyone else who interviewed with them. They have a lot of people to interview and compare.
If it's a smaller hedge fund, either they don't have their stuff together or it's a ding. Make your choices under the assumption you're not getting an offer and then ideally call them as soon as you can once you've made your decision, let them know you have this offer with this deadline, and you need to hear back from them. Just bear in mind that maybe you don't want to work for them if they're this disorganized at a small or mid-sized firm.
