Top hedge funds by strategy

Hi everyone,

I see a lot of discussions on specific funds on this forum, but what surpisingly seems to be lacking is a centralized topic listing the top names in the industry for each core strategy from the point of where the WSO monkeys want to work at - from a holisitic point of view, including performance, AUM, culture, hours, impressive people to learn from and, of course (it's WSO, after all), prestige.

I am particularly interested in which US hedge funds are considered the most attractive for these two strategies:
1. Fundamental long/short equity
2. Macro

Thoughts?

P.S.: If my search skills have failed me and there is actually a topic addressing this, kindly share a link.

That would be like trying to have a definitive ranking of supermodels. Tons of bickering of minute details and matters of opinion, a constantly shifting list, and ultimately irrelevant to 90% of the people involved in the discussion.

Joking aside it's better to ask specific questions than to try to curate some sort of info dump, because the industry is extremely nuanced, constantly evolving, and generally secretive. The answer is also more likely to be relevant to you.

Also, it's "holistic".

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.

Hillarious... Old Freud is swirling in his grave.

Thanks for the inputs guys.

You mean we don't get French benefits? Next you'll tell me Steely Dan isn't just one guy.
