Brendan Wood International releases a list of best buy-side minds for a bunch of sectors. Apparently its based on a survey of sell-side analysts.
Does this list hold any weight or is it just fan-fare/nonsense like Forbes X under X?
Seen some very legit investors on the list. Also seen some with short-lived success. IMO it’s a better reflection of how deep your fundamental understanding of a company is rather than how skilled you are at making money. And the two don’t always go hand in hand.

If you allow a more cynical view, the more you pay/engage with the sellside, the higher your chances of making the list.
But indeed, zero correlation with ability to make money.
Fair but that list is a lot more LO’s than HF if I remember correctly (at least on the HC side). So don’t think your theory holds up.
It's reasonably balanced between LO and HF. The list is based alone on sellaide votes. You're suggesting these sellsiders are voting for people they don't know or talk to?

I’m suggesting SS’ers get paid more commission from MM funds who trade >> LO’s and MF’s.
Just saying you would think that HFs would dominate the list if the commission theory is true. Obviously assuming HF fees >>>>> MF/LO
If the list was sell side votes, that’s 100% the ranking for the list.
