Salesmen call the buyside traders and PMs. They give order and the trade is executed.... My personal experience

Yes because when they keep you on the phone for long, they stand more chance of getting the order executed. One PM told me he only does it over IB chats, for the clarity. He doesn't like being hustled on the phone.
