TrendUp SRP Program
Just wanted to ask if anyone had experience with the SRP program for TrendUp Now (https://trendupnow.org/).
Planning on potentially accepting the internship, which comes if selected to be at the top of the cohort at the end of the course, but was a little bit surprised that the candidate needs to pay a few thousand dollars to receive the full package (includes mentorship, resume consultation & 2-3 months work internship, potentially unpaid, at partnered firms).
Did anyone have any experiences with the program's final stage internship? What kind of firm sizes (AUM) did they set you up with (names/or DM if possible) and were they legit, with a physical address etc?
Dude if you made it to the SRP take it, you have no idea how hard it is to get in
if you have to pay its a scam
ms for calling out a scam? guess they be canvassing the forums for victi-, er, candidates
If you're looking for the experience boost then do it, it's a no brainer. The internship is key not only to learn but also to be seen as someone with experience in the industry. And if you're worried about the money part you can also just get a paid internship too, they have those available as well, that's what I did.
How much are the paid internships and how likely could on get a full time role from one of the partnered internships? What’s the average salary?
Paid internships through the SRP are structured differently depending on the firm you get placed with. From what I've seen the compensation varies greatly, but tends to be competitive and is always more than the fee itself. Regardkess the value proposition is really the experience and the direct exposure to a live investment operation rather than the pay itself which is why the unpaid option is also popular (I'd argue more since its more flexible).
On full-time conversion, it's not guaranteed and TrendUp doesn't position it that way as it will depend on each firm -and your profile-, but a few people from my cohort did go on to stay with their placement firms, and if not they certainly used the experience to land roles elsewhere. The firms are small to mid-sized so there's usually no structured analyst program like in big IB, it's more of a relationship you build during the placement. If you perform well the door stays open. If you're looking for a guaranteed full-time offer at the end I'd manage expectations, but as a foot in the door for someone without much prior buy-side experience it's hard to replicate otherwise.
