Weiss Asset Mgmt Interview

Hey guys,

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Interviewing at WAM as an UG for a Fundamental Investing role. 1 technical, 1 behavioral. Not sure what to expect technicals as I've heard its Math-y probability and logic stuff. Any insight would be super helpful.

Thank you very much

Hey there!

Interviewing for a Fundamental Investing role, especially with a firm like Weiss Asset Management, can indeed be a mix of technical prowess and behavioral finesse. Here's a little insight to help you swing through the trees with ease:

  • Technical Interview: This might involve a deep dive into your understanding of financial concepts, valuation techniques, and market analysis. Given that you've heard it's "Math-y," you should be prepared for probability and logic questions, which are often used to assess your quantitative skills and problem-solving abilities. Brush up on your statistics and be ready to tackle brainteasers that test your analytical thinking.

  • Behavioral Interview: This is your stage to shine personality-wise. They'll likely explore your past experiences, work ethic, and how you fit into their culture. Be ready to discuss your strengths, weaknesses, and how you've navigated both successes and challenges in the past.

Remember, based on the most helpful WSO content, it's crucial to: - Know your resume inside out. - Be able to walk through your thought process clearly and logically. - Have a solid grasp of fundamental investing principles. - Prepare some questions to ask them as well—it shows you're engaged and interested.

Good luck, and don't forget to enjoy the process! It's all about learning and growing.

Did you receive a case study from them before interviews? Just got a response from them applying to the same position yesterday
