The term is used to refer to the first release of earnings data by a company, in a press release. "Microsoft just had a solid [earnings] print" means Microsoft just released strong-looking earnings. This distinguishes the "print" from the eventual publication of a 10-Q quarterly report filed with the SEC, which can occur several weeks after the initial "print."
I'd imagine the term has some connection to pre-Internet terminology; publishers of newspapers, etc., would "go to print" with the physical document. I'm just speculating, but I'm guessing similar terminology was used for press releases.
