What math skills are needed to break into HF or the buyside in general?
I know that statistic concepts like regression, standard deviation etc are very common in these types of roles but what math concepts are common and are needed for the job?

Being numerically comfortable is essential but that doesn't mean you need to be especially good at maths as a whole.
This is for discretionary L/S equity. Macro strats and obviously, quant ones, regardless if they're discretionary or systematic will require higher levels of maths education.
