What separates some from the rest?

Title says it all - basically what do you think separates the people in this industry who make millions before the age of 35 and those who washout or stay analysts until retirement? Luck/right place right time, raw talent/mental firepower, having a good mentor, or all of the above?

I think you're off if your guiding light is to make it big by 35. It should be to make it and to stay there.. i've seen a good deal of guys that became PMs at 30 before they were ready (had little experience managing through cycle turns or macro externalities), blew up at 31, never were given a chance to manage risk again.

Slow and steady wins the race.

That was a solid read. Going to print that one off and come back to it every now and again. Love interactions like this on WSO. Thanks.
