Can we finally admit this market will never crash again in our lifetime?

Can people finally admit this market is completely unstoppable? Like there's literally nothing on the face of this planet that can stop this runaway train, not even Iran/Israel/Ukraine/Private Credit/Interest Rates/Shrinkflation etc. I was a former eternal bear and now I don't get how many still don't realize how truly risk free this market is.

I'll be called an idiot, I'm sure someone will set a reminder, but every time I think there will be a crash look a month out and this thing is up another 5-7%. S&P UP +25% YOY!!!!

Based on the most insightful WSO discussions, it's clear that the idea of a "risk-free" or "unstoppable" market is heavily debated and often dismissed. While markets may show prolonged periods of growth, historical patterns and expert opinions suggest that no market is immune to corrections or crashes. Here are some key takeaways from WSO threads:

  1. Market Cycles Are Inevitable: Many users emphasize that markets operate in cycles, and periods of irrational exuberance often precede corrections. As one user noted, "The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent," highlighting the unpredictability of timing downturns.

  2. Catalysts for Crashes Exist: Discussions frequently point to potential triggers like geopolitical tensions, economic slowdowns, or over-leveraged sectors (e.g., private credit or real estate). For instance, some users speculate that events like a BTC crash or a Chinese real estate collapse could act as catalysts for a downturn.

  3. Overvaluation Concerns: Several threads compare current market conditions to past bubbles, such as the dot-com era, noting similarities in overvaluation metrics like P/E ratios. While the S&P 500 may be up significantly YOY, this doesn't negate the possibility of a reversion to the mean.

  4. Prudent Skepticism: Even bullish participants acknowledge that markets are not invincible. As one user put it, "Being early on these calls can be just as bad as being wrong," suggesting that timing is critical, but dismissing the idea of a crash-proof market.

While the market's recent performance may feel unstoppable, history and expert analysis suggest that no market is truly risk-free. It's wise to remain cautious and prepared for potential volatility.
