Can you guys buy single stock names?

I've just finished an internship at a PE firm and got a return and we are allowed to buy and sell single stock names which is a huge positive for me since I quite enjoy it and like to think I'm good at it and it has helped my net worth (I know the S&P is up 28% YTD before someone says it). My issue is that I'm incoming intern at a BB and wanted to know if you guys can buy single stock names? If I do get a return from the BB, I think this would play a big role in my decision.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the ability to buy and sell single stock names while working at a BB (Bulge Bracket) firm typically depends on the firm's compliance policies. Most BBs have strict personal trading policies to avoid conflicts of interest, especially for employees in roles like investment banking or equity research. These policies often require pre-clearance for trades, holding periods, or even outright restrictions on trading certain securities.

If this is a significant factor in your decision, it would be wise to directly inquire about the specific compliance rules at the BB firm you're considering. This will give you clarity on how it might impact your ability to trade single stock names.
