Internal Mobility from Central Teams to Either Desk or Quant

I’m on a central team at a large multi-strategy fund, mostly working with data (everything from pipelines/plumbing to some forecasting). I’m in my early-mid career and interested in moving closer to the front office.

For people who’ve made that transition, what’s the best way to switch teams internally without getting stuck in politics?
