Investment/Economics Thesis
Hi guys,
As usual, first of all thank you for all the topics, detailed and interesting answers you provide.
I introduce myself, I am currently in the 4th year of a Bachelor's degree, specialized in Finance and I want to direct my career towards investment and more particularly in Asset Management.
All this to say, that my school gives me the opportunity to do a thesis/essay of about 70/80 pages on a subject related to our future, a career field. I want to do a Master 2, rather oriented Finance/economics, macroeconomics and therefore a thesis oriented on this subject would be an incredible advantage in my application. So I chose this option and I need some helps from you on the subject of this these:
I have some personal tracks and topics that would interest me, but I was wondering, in my place and with time, if you had any topics that you are passionate about, that you are interested in and that you would like to explore in more detail for a thesis. I know that it is quite large, but the focus is therefore more on economy/macroeconomics in order to invest.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Thomas
Hey thomas.napolie, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I am sad to say, but this thread is lonely, so thought I'd post in here to try and help out. Some potential topics that might help:
Hope that helps.
bump
any thoughts?
couple things I'm interested in (selfishly)
Thank you for your answer, and all these interesting topics. For a career in HF, I imagine that the subject is the most relevant: the increase in HFT/quant shops and the impacts to various markets (spreads, trade volume, momentum factor, etc.)
Nevertheless, can you quickly develop what you mean by :a look at corporate governance measures and subsequent stock market returns ?
Many thanks in advance,
sure thing. basically I have this suspicion that increasing economic freedom as measured by certain accounting or governance metrics (ROIC, % of independent directors, % of non-family directors, institutional ownership, different share classes, etc.) leads to better functioning organizations and (after adjusting for different factor & sector dispersion) better returns. I have zero time to test this hypothesis.
