Trans Pacific Partnership - moving on without the US

11 nations are moving ahead with the TPP without the US after stupid opportunistic election year grandstanding by socialists of the far left (Warren, Sanders) and short sighted populist opportunism by far right Bannonite paleo klan conservatives caused the plan to become political poison in the US.

What are the economic and political effects of this? Certainly less than if the US had remained the central player. What are the missed opportunities that will result from our absence (influence over Vietnams internal political situation diminished perhaps; less leverage vs Chinas SOEs?) Might the US in the future, under more responsible leadership choose to join the agreement?
