1-Yr of Experience Looking to Apply to 2017 Analyst Programs?
Not sure if this has been done or not; however, I'm curious see if anybody knows of someone who's a year or two out of undergrad and applied to (or is applying to) IB analyst programs and succeeded. Are firms dead set on hiring only coming grads or are they willing to take a chance on somebody who's had banking experience (i.e. commercial banking)? Any tips/insights or anecdotes would be great. Thanks a lot guys!
I did a year in strategy consulting and recently jumped to an Analyst program at a MM firm. I did not have much luck at BBs, but Boutiques and MM were much more receptive to the idea, particularly if you network. As long as you're only a year (or two) out of college and have a competitive background, you should be fine.
My MM was receptive to this.
