1st round interview Canadian bank - global markets

Hey guys! Hope all's well

I got invited to a 1st round interview with a major Canadian bank, for their global markets - capital markets summer 2024 program.

I haven't really done much technicals as I've had a personal emergency over the last few weeks, but I have a few days til the interview.

By phone they told me no need to study, it's purely behavioral/not even. Very chill team... But might be a trap? Not sure.

I'm an accounting major, and have a very solid understanding of that side.

In terms of the rest, I'm thinking of taking the next 2.5-3 days and skimming through the 400 WSO and doing some practice questions and behaviorals. Probs 15-18 hrs total.

Should I be fine for the first round? How should I attack it with the time remaining?

Thanks so much in advance,

For Global Markets / Sales & Trading I think you should focus more on the market and have a good understanding of what's going on (including recent events) and what the bank you are interviewing is doing within the market. Research the different products and services they offer and have a general understanding of each. Have a stock pitch prepared as well and be able to talk about companies and industries you have researched and how you see them moving forward.

For the behavioural portion, understand what Global Markets / Sales & Trading is and have a solid story of why you want to go into it. Also have a few situations prepared to talk about for team related questions and be ready to talk about personal attributes (strengths / weaknesses, what you value in a team, etc.) Try reaching out to people you know who have worked in the group or industry you're interviewing for and ask them to mock interview you as well.

Best of luck, and I am sure you will do well with enough practice.
