2028 SA Megathread
Lil bros a sophomore at prep school and is worried about the advancing recruiting timelines, given there are the 2026 and 2027 threads. Anyway, he's been doing some networking and has even managed to secure a few informational interviews with some alumni who are now high up in the finance industry. Based on his calls, unfortunately, his prep school (think Deerfield, Loomis, St. Mark's) isn't prestigious enough for a greater chance to get into a global super target (H/Y/ASU/Oxbridge/M) and AT LEAST a top group (GS TMT, PJT RSSG, MS M&A) then ultimately KKR/BX/APO. Bros worst nightmare is getting into a tier 2 university worldwide (Columbia/Princeton/Northwestern/Stanford/Dartmouth). Like every high schooler on this forum, he's considering transferring to a better school (think Phillips, Exeter, St. Paul's). How's everyone else doing in the process? Anyone have any tips on how to stand out to recruiters and make a lasting impression as a HS sophomore? And for those of you already pre-destined to getting referred and accepted to global hypertargets for the incoming class of 2029, what do you think set you apart from the other candidates? Many thanks!
Need a 2029 Megathread, this seems outdated.
I went to a Tier 2 boarding school, but super targets will respect anyone who can pull a 3.9 or above from those places. At my school, a 3.6 translated to a 3.8ish for college, and everyone with a 3.9 was bound to get into Harvard, The University of Alabama, MIT, and the likes—if not, Brown or Williams would snatch them up.
Honestly, as a current junior at a "tier 1" boarding school, it's not worth transferring. You'll be lonely as hell and, as long as you're already in the top couple % of your class, you're going to get into a good school; it's less about where you go and more about how much you stand out. Ivies don't prioritize boarding schools anymore. It's not like you go to Andover and you automatically have a higher chance of getting into Harvard or University of Minnesota; it's just the people accepted into Andover are the type to get accepted to Harvard and University of Minnesota (ignoring legacy and recruits). As long as your school is comparable to Loomis or Deerfield, you're fine. Just my two cents.
Can't help but think this entire thread was an elaborate guise just to hype up ASU.
