30% Annual Bonus Deferral
Has anyone heard of banks deferring payment of 30% of an analyst's annual bonus until the Fall? My bank does this and I'm trying to see if this is common practice or more BS.

How do deferred bonuses work? (Originally Posted: 01/26/2010)
Let's just say that your firm has a three-year equal installment deferred bonus scheme.
If you are given a $60,000 bonus, how does it work out? More specifically, let's just say that your analyst program is for 3 years. What happens to your bonus when you leave the bank after the third year? Do you still get to keep your bonuses that will be vested over the next few years even after you leave the bank?
Thanks in advance.
