All of my cover letters are around 475 words, including address.
I can't seem to cut anything out, about 125 is about myself (my 1st year summer internship) and then the concluding paragraph, the rest is all about the company in question but I do think it's all relevent, it's all on one page...but is it too much?

just finished writing a really lengthy cover letter that comes to 336 words without addresses. You're probably doing something wrong. Remember what a cover letter is for, and then reread what you've written.
