well this isn't necessarily an invalid question. if i were still 18 id prob have asked the same thing, esp how some of my friends in asset management and ibd and trading wear jeans to work once a week and don't always wear suits, at least when not meeting up with clients

I have never heard of someone wearing jeans to work i IB. My friend at M&A GoldmanSachs in NY says everyone wears dress pants/suit pants and dress shirt when not meeting up with clients. And when they do they just put on the jacket and a tie.
