well this isn't necessarily an invalid question. if i were still 18 id prob have asked the same thing, esp how some of my friends in asset management and ibd and trading wear jeans to work once a week and don't always wear suits, at least when not meeting up with clients
In merry old England, a top hat is of the utmost importance, along with a jacket featuring coat tails, a suit vest and your finest spats. It is most prudent to sport a monocle while smoking the finest colonial tobacco in your finely-carved pipe.
Hope this answers your question on the differences.

You forgot the pocketwatch and hankerchief.
and umbrella, god forbid you get a tan and look like the commoners and laborers
I have never heard of someone wearing jeans to work i IB. My friend at M&A GoldmanSachs in NY says everyone wears dress pants/suit pants and dress shirt when not meeting up with clients. And when they do they just put on the jacket and a tie.

The title is misleading
Is that a serious question?

Can someone please answer?
Most probably do.
Why does it matter?
Because I want to know what the difference in how people dress in finance is between London and NY.
Fuck you
Instead of saying "fuck you" answer my question!
It's been answered. Also, fuck you.
