A Second Shot on a Analyst Position

Several months ago I was rejected over an analyst position at a middle market firm, but I was told that I was one of final two candidates considered and they might have hired me if a second spot was open back then.

Recently I followed up with the bank after I saw they posted the same position on Monster and I was told that I would be meeting the team again for a second shot at the position.

I understand that the bank is also interviewing a bunch of other people for the position.

I'm wondering, given my situation, what my chances of landing the job would be and if there is anything different I should prepare (compared to what people usually prepare for 1st time interview).

Thank you.

You should have an EXTREMELY large advantage considering you've already been through the interview process with them before. Not because they know or care that you have. But because you already know what the culture is, what types of things they look for, all of the people's backgrounds, etc... its yours to lose if you ask me.

I'm not saying you're a shoe in... I'm saying you've already seen this same exact test before... where you fit in on the curve is upto you, and to a lesser degree, up to your competition.

I dunno, if you were such a close second and so well qualified for the position it would seem that they would have called you in as soon as the position opened up rather than go through another drawn out recruiting process.

Seems to me theyre doing what I did while dating all my ex girlfriends...getting drunk and going out to look for something better. Then again, maybe they like eating Frosted Flakes every morning for breakfast and will go with what they know.

You've got a good shot, but it certainly isn't "yours to lose." The fact that they are out shopping the position to other candidates does not bode well. Either they want to be 100% sure they fill the position or they are looking for something better than what they already have lined up (i.e. you). Make sure you bring your A game.

If you got the offer then you can probably dial it down a notch dude haha relax.
