Academy Securities???
Anyone heard of this company. It's a veteran-run investment bank based in north carolina, with several offices in financial hubs. They make absurd claims, which I just can't quite believe. Claims like:
"Since the beginning of 2015, Academy Securities has been involved in over 800 financing transactions, raising in excess of over $450 billion."
"Academy is awarded with the #1 ranking in the 2016 Global CMBS Lead-and Co-Manager League Tables."
They claim to bank $5Bn deals for Goldman and Berkshire Hathaway.
Is this blatantly completely bullshit or am I somehow not aware of one of the world's great investment banking juggernauts (along with everyone else).
Most of their roles are small comanagers in Larger transaction they get to satisfy policies on directing business to minority-owned customers. They might get a .5% or 1% comanager role on a multi billion dollar transaction and claim that they were part of the full amount. The claim is probably misleading but not inaccurate.
It is all true, take a look at any CMBS prospectus and you will probably see them as a co-manager. They are on many, many, corporate deals as well.
