Accelerating FT recruiting through HR?

Currently received an offer from a lower BB for FT 2021 after my SA, but I don't like the group (both the people and industry focus) and am a little nervous about the future of the bank.

I'm interested in lateraling for FT, but only have two weeks to decide on my FT offer from this BB. Given the economy, I'd be a madman to turn down the offer, so unfortunately that makes FT recruiting pretty tough.

Is it reasonable to reach out to HR at banks I'm interested in that have opened a FT recruiting application (namely JPM, MS, GS) and I've applied to asking for an accelerated timeline? I've spoken to analysts at all three banks and they have all said they'd do what they can to help me, but all have said they know nothing about the FT process, headcount needs are unclear, and various other unhelpful responses. None offered to reach out to HR on my behalf. Is there a downside risk to emailing HR? I guess the worst case scenario in my mind is they say no, which is fine and is no different than if I never emailed and accepted my current offer before these processes kicked off. I'm a little nervous that word somehow gets back to my current bank (someone mentions my name to a friend or whatever), would they get pissed at me for shopping my offer?

I know I'm super lucky to even have one offer given what's happening in the world, and I promise this isn't a prestige thing- I really did not like the people on my team nor what we cover, and I'm looking at GS/MS/JPM because those are the only 3 BBs to post a full time application. I'd be open to EBs or top MMs as well, but all the conversations I've had there are even more discouraging.

Not happening especially in this economic climate. Just take the offer and if you want to lateral do so in a year or two.

Just take your offer man. Thought about re-recruiting but really got no positive response so have accepted my offer from lower BB. You can always lateral later on.

Swallow your pride and take the offer dude. In case you haven't noticed FT recruiting and SA offers are absolutely horrible. Insanely brutal job market and tbh if I was in your group and found out you were recruiting for FT at a "top" BB it would probs come off in a bad way. Just be grateful you have a BB offer because I guarantee you hundreds of kids this summer would do anything for your seat

It’s really not a pride thing at all- if I was in the same group at GS and felt the way I feel now about the team, I would be looking to move just the same and would have no qualms going to my current bank. But if I don’t mesh with the team and have no interest in the group, I know it’s going to be hard to go to work for 80 hours a week for the next two years.

I’m also not only looking at top BBs, it’s just that those are the only banks to have an open process at all.

Gotcha. I didn't throw MS at you btw. I hear where you're coming from 100% but just understand that it is VERY unlikely you get a FT spot anywhere. Think about all the kids at MM and BB this summer who didn't get a return (a lot), competing for barely ANY seats FT. There is practically no FT recruiting going on. With that being said, if you go ahead and recruit for FT, someone in your group will find out - people know people and someone will ask someone in your group about you. And, for whatever reason you don't get the FT spot, it will be awkward with your group now. May come off like you don't want to be there but I get you actually don't. Tough situation for sure so good luck and tread carefully
