Admin/Education IBD time requirements?

So... Just a question about IBD Analyst hours. I know it's not a full block of work from morning to night, but I have a question about something else.

In Big 4 we are inundated with emails reminding us to spend so many hours on administration/education items. Normal things like submitting timesheets and expense reports is expected but we have online so many online educational courses (in addition to bi-yearly official training) PLUS educational phone calls from upper management and other technical office meetings at least once a month. Add all this to "Encouraged" (read: Mandatory) charity events/donations (which would be fine but they take tons of time) and "encouraged" recruiting/counseling/professional development lunches/dinners/events and an engaged Big 4 "analyst" is spending close to 10 extra hours a week on projects unrelated to core work.

Is this baked into the assumption of long banking hours or are these types of things even the norm in IBD?
