Advice for Internships

Hi guys! I am a freshman at UNC - Chapel Hill and I am currently looking for a summer internship. I really want to land a finance internship, especially in wealth management, but right now I think I would be lucky to get anything. I have tried almost everything - emailed over 20 local WM firms (only one responded, only to tell me that BAML doesn't accept freshman interns), applied to official internships at BBs, applied to smaller internships, talked to career counselors, talked to academic advising, asked people in the b-school, attended career fairs, talked to my one business professor - only to get rejected every single time (and usually without an interview). My grades are high as I got a 4.0 my first semester, my courses are somewhat ahead of the average curve (I have the basic business prereqs, and junior level quant and scientific classes), and my involvement on campus has been strong and business related. I don't want to sound stuck-up as I am very confident that many people here are much more qualified than me, but I also think that these credentials should be able to land at least a decent internship.

What do you guys think? What should I do?

As I also really want to do PWM and have been having very little luck, do you guys think I should call instead of email? Should I attach my resume on the first email? Are there any other finance related opportunities open to freshman?

I would really appreciate any advice! Thanks so much for your time!
