Advice Needed - Currently working as a banker in Corporate Banking
Hi all
My current situation is a follows, I am 22yo and currently working as a Banker in Corporate Banking at an Australian Bank. I have completed my degree (majors in Finance and Accounting) and I am currently undertaking my CFA studies.
Within 2 years my aim is to move to the UK and work for an Investment/ Corporate Bank as an analyst.
I have just been offered a position as a Dealers Assistant at a Broking House. This role will have a number of pros; good exposure to the market, better pay, better work hours/ lifestyle.
Whilst this job would be ideal in the short term, my only concern is the possible effect (if any) of moving from the banking industry across to Broking would on my long term goal of moving to Inv Banking.
I understand that there are a number of people on this board who already work for Inv/ Corporate Banks, I would greatly appreciate any feed back from you (or anyone else) on the above issues.
Ideally I would like to find out what skill sets and work experience would be the most valued pre-requisites for the analyst role, and would taking the broking job be a benefit or detriment to my long term career?
Thankyou
