Affordable laptop for IB that can handle modeling and dual monitors?

Looking to replace my desktop as my WFH machine and am seeking something more portable. Preferably not trying to spend more than $500-600.  Any recommendations for Lenovo or HP? Did a forum search but most suggestions are $1,000+

I’d personally roll with an AMD for modeling right now. Just an fyi, desktop to laptop (even if you buy the “same” specs) will have a big performance drop if you are dealing with larger models.

My recommendation is to maximize RAM/CPU and ignore storage. All of your storage will be on network drives/data rooms anyway.

Alternatively, if this is a WFH setup, you might consider doing another desktop for which you will get much more performance for your buck.

Would recommend Lenovo Yoga and get it on sale so you can stack the discounts. The key is buying when there are promotions cause there can be big differences in price.

I find Lenovo laptops to be a lot lighter and durable then like a HP or Dell. They also have HDMI port but I use a docking station for dual monitor, mouse, keyboard, drive, etc. My bank issues a $2K HP laptop and it's super heavy and constantly have issues, but could be a function of having bunch of company software installed on it.
