Alliance Bernstein Moves HQ to Nashville,TN

I've noticed over the past few months top shops opening/hiring for southern locations.( like GS in ATL/ Evercore in Dallas/ Now AB) . Is it worth starting your career off in regional shops compared to NY? Does anyone have experience with exit opps/comp disparity/ or promotions when staying in the regional areas?

I don't know, and this is admittedly off topic, but this is great news for everyone in New York (and every other high tax state). The only thing that is ever going to get Albany's attention is employer flight, and lawmakers realizing that a) businesses have other options, and b) it is better to tax 20% of something than 50% of nothing.

If you want to be a big fish in a stupid little pond, then sure, move to Tampa or Nashville.

If you want to be surrounded by the top tier talent from all over the world, stick with NYC.

If you care about saving a few dollars on taxes, sure, move. If you care about making the best of your career and climbing a ladder, stay in nyc. You’ll be better in the long run surrounded by better talent.

The IB talent in NY post Covid is at an all time low. These bank layoffs need to flush out at least 30%
