Alumni keeps flaking on informational interview

I contacted an alumni who is a VP at a BB bank in May. He flaked 3 times from our phone call. Haven't contacted him in a month and emailed him the other day and he flaked again today. Should I keep trying?

you obviously have no idea how the real world works if you think an avp is 'flaking' on you. he is busy and prioritizing and you better keep rescheduling til you are able to catch him. try finding out if there is an event etc. that he might be attending (say 'hey, I was thinking about going to xyz, were you interested?' etc.) and invite him or invite yourself. if it's long distance, keep rescheduling but every time you do, use it as a touch and ask him if anything exciting is going on, holiday plans, and other bs to get him to connect with you more and also you'll have something to say when you do finally speak instead of just 'give me a job.'

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!

also always confirm the day before if in morning or morning of if afternoon. 'hey just wanted to confirm we're stil on for x.' or Let me know if tomorrow is still good for you. working around their schedule and being proactive is a positive sign.

Honestly now, does it piss you off when kids ask those questions? I rarely have genuine questions that need to be answered because I have spoken to so many people already, but I need to try and build that relationship.

Nah, I respect that they at least took the time to figure out they're supposed to try making connections. I was helped out along the way by alumni so I always take the time to reply to everyone and at least set up a call.

Was just using that to illustrate the point that if I agree to talk at 1pm, and something comes up, the kid gets rescheduled 100% of the time and not work. Nobody in college is actually busy.

I would absolutely stay away from using Bchat as a way to cold "call" prospects.

Also, people are busy, but they are obviously making time for you. Unfortunately, the world doesn't revolve around you. Get some fucking perspective!
