Amazon Senior Financial Analyst or Middle Market IB associate?

Recently came in to Amazon under their FLDP program. Currently a Senior Financial Analyst. So far things are going well; I like the team and still learning about the work. Very SQL heavy. Fully remote. Total comp is $185k

At the same time I just got an offer to join Lincoln International’s TMT M&A team as an associate. Hours would be brutal though with poor WLB ( think consistent 4 AM nights). Would be required to go into the office in Manhattan pretty much everyday. Total comp is $250k

What do you suggest I choose and please explain why? What I like about Amazon is that there seems to be so many opportunities to grow and change groups internally.

Agreed, not sure why OP is even considering it. Marginal bump in TC to have to work 2.0x the hours and to have to move to NYC, where that ~ 40k post-tax bump will be immediately spent on necessities like rent and food. You would be taking a more miserable job, being forced to live in NYC, would work way longer hours, and your stress would likely double. Lincoln works the shit out of their employees, it would be a major mistake to make this switch

You can always go back to Amazon. If you're in AWS pretty sure it isn't full hiring process if you come back within a year too. Not sure about the rest of Amazon.

Personally I'd take the Associate role even if you only stay for a short period - will open up more doors in the CF space you're currently in long-term. Obviously liking your team at Amazon (even though that can and usually does change) being fully remote makes the decision harder plus your comp is pretty good for SFA but moving up the ranks to Manager and beyond is a bit of a black hole especially in a non-tech role.

Total comp seems pretty low but not sure if Lincoln pays street so I'd do some research on that before making a decision.

This is a complete shit take. He’s not talking about doing a stint at GS/MS/JPM. It’s Lincoln. Amazon is a much more “prestigious” name than Lincoln, so unless he’s dead set on being an IB-lifer or working in the M&A space, there is zero branding benefit to be had. Stop perpetuating the myth that a 6month IB stint on CV at any shitty shop >  all else, it really isn’t. If you want to do CF, stay doing CF, especially since from OP it seems like he had other jobs before Amazon. Doing a 6month stint at Lincoln would brand you a job hopper and whether you’ll get to return  to Amazon will be entirely dependent on how you left relationship with your team, but no they won’t drool over you just bc you did PPT training and didn’t close a single deal as a junior banker at a no name bank (yes I know Lincoln is ok but no one outside IB gives a shit)

Why would they bring you as an associate without an MBA or IB experience? 250k is just wrong. I work at Lincoln and can say no one is working consistently until 4 am. This whole post is shady as hell
