Amity Technical Assessment?

Incoming AN1. Received an email from Amity asking me to do a technical assessment by June 1. From the description, it seems pretty thorough and covers concepts that you should have down by the time you’re stepping into interviews, not necessarily six months in advance.

Does anyone have experience with this? Am I overestimating its difficulty? Should I still take it even if I’m not through all of my technical prep yet?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, technical assessments like the one you mentioned are designed to evaluate your readiness for the role and your grasp of fundamental concepts. While the difficulty can vary, it's common for these assessments to test areas you should be familiar with by the time you're actively interviewing.

Here are some key takeaways and advice:

  1. Preparation is Key: Even if you're not fully through your technical prep, it's worth attempting the assessment. Use it as a benchmark to identify gaps in your knowledge. Focus on core areas like financial modeling, valuation techniques, and accounting principles.

  2. Difficulty Level: From similar experiences shared on WSO, these assessments can range from moderate to challenging. For example, some tests include multiple-choice questions on technical concepts, coding exercises, or even case studies like building an LBO model from scratch.

  3. Time Management: If the assessment is timed, ensure you allocate your time wisely. Prioritize questions you are confident in and circle back to tougher ones if time permits.

  4. Practice Resources: Utilize guides like the WSO Technical Guide, the 400 M&I questions, or other resources you may have. These are highly recommended for brushing up on technicals.

  5. Take the Opportunity: Even if you're not fully prepared, taking the assessment can provide valuable experience. It’s better to attempt it and learn from the process than to skip it entirely.

Remember, the goal is to demonstrate your potential and willingness to learn. Good luck!
