Analyst / Associate Program after experience

Have you ever seen people with experience (1-3 years) get into a Analyst or Associate program?

I have seen people work after undergrad for 1-3 years and then somehow were able to get into a Analyst program.

Likewise, I have also seen people work after an MBA or JD and do maybe compliance for 3-4 years and move into an IBD Associate program at their firm

Is that common? How would someone go about even doing that though?

No MBA usually means analyst but there are certainly people with PhD type experience that move into Associate roles. though they are usually in more specialized roles (read Quants). Bottom line is that it depends on the firm, the person, etc. As far as 'how you would do this' you would apply to the program through a contact or the website like anyone else.
