It sounds fun bro. I did it in my 20s. I went to Spain, Portugal, England, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Germany, Norway, Sweden, France, and Greece. I'd say its much easier to get around now with Google Maps and iPhones. These things weren't invented yet when I was traveling. Just as a few tips, always lock up your passport and an extra credit card where you're staying so if your wallet gets stolen, you have a backup. Some hostels can be sketchy and if you want to splurge a little and get a private room it could be a bit safer so someone doesn't steal your stuff and also you can bring girls back to your room. My favorite hostel in Europe was the Pink Palace in Greece - had a lot of fun there. I took a cruise ship from Brindisi Italy to Corfu and it was only like 40 euros, but you can go to Corfu from other cities too from Italy.

In this room above I had 13 Double Redbull Vodkas and many Ouzo shots - what a crazy few days that was. I also rented a 4 wheeler from Pink Palace and tore up the whole island - it was sick.
