Anyone commute from the UWS to FiDi?
How is this commute? Found a great place in the UWS (extremely close to the 2/3) and I'm looking at a 20-25 minute commute. Are the 2/3 trains considered reliable?

if you are working banking hours, this would be miserable
If it's actually 20-25 minutes, I don't see how this would be miserable at all. It's not like you'll be taking the train back.
.
FWIW, my dad did this for 5 years as an associate/VP. When I was younger I went to preschool in one of the Towers and we would take the 2/3 or a cab down to FiDi. Worked out fine for him, but he was also 30-35 when this was going on.
The 2/3 is about the most reliable line in the city, tied with the 4/5 I'd say (because they are the busiest). The 1 and the A/C will work as a backup in a pinch as well. I have a similar commute, as do a lot of the other analysts.
That commute is super common, and you won't find much faster, e.g. Murray Hill, etc. can be longer if you have to worry about cross town transfers.
UWS is a great place if you love the park and don't mind a relatively limited bar scene vs. the Village or Murray Hill.
B/D is much faster if you live in West/Greenwich Village area and work in either midtown or FIDI. It takes like 10 minutes on the worst day.
Despite this, UWS to FiDI you will be fine.
I lived in the UWS while commuting to FiDi two summers ago (2/3 line as well) and didn't have a problem. I did S&T though and the 25 minute ride in the morning was painful at times.
Thank you all for your thoughts. Curious to know if anyone else has any additional insight.
You'll be fine, my commute was ~20 min from FiDi to midtown. The 2 and 3 are express trains, so it'll take you straight to wall.
