Are banks reluctant to hire Europeans into the US?

Hi,

I recently accepted a FT offer at a relatively large bank in London. My family lives on the West Coast and I'd like to make a move there too. At first I thought that I might be able to transfer within this bank in a few years. However, this is far from certain and the bank doesn't have the largest operation there.

I've been looking into applying directly at banks located on the West Coast. I'm curious as to whether banks are reluctant to hire a European into the US, particularly because you guys have more than enough college students and it may be more expensive for the bank.

Also, I think I missed a lot of the deadlines for the BBs. Is there any point in applying at the boutiques?
