Undergraduate from a non-target public schools with a 3.88 GPA. Looking into programs in schools such as LES and Oxford. Im wondering if this will be a good breakin for US banks, funds in NYC, Chicago, etc.

yeah LSE, LBS and Oxford are well know in the US. Still it is quite hard for internationals because of Visa issues
Yea. I know the working permit is hard to get in London. Is it possible to carry the degree back to the states or interview for US positions while studying in london?
If you can get into LSE and Oxford why not just go to a top US school if the US is your end game? Seems kind of pointless to move to the UK to study just to move back once you're done
One of the reasons is the cost. US top mbas cost around 160k for tuition. Working in London might be hard but I am also fine with HK , Singapore and Shanghai besides returning to the us.

Hi everyone,
First post on this site so apologies if i have posted under the wrong forum or anything. Here is my situation, i am currently accepted to do Physics at Imperial College starting this October and am interested in Investment Banking.
However, over the course of my A-levels, i have become more and more interested in Economics and right now like it even more than Physics. So right now i am considering taking a gap year and applying to LSE (i have the grades) as i know it is more well known in the US than Imperial and is famous for getting people into investment banks.
Would you advise this? Would graduating from LSE or Imperial make a difference in getting into US investment banks? What do you recommend i do as i know that getting into IB's straight from a foreign uni is very rare
I'd defer the year of entry to September 2013, because if you don't get into LSE (very likely to happen for Economics), you could have quite an exposure having cancelled your Imperial offer.
Regarding likelihood of getting into US IBs, I don't see it happening unless you have a US passport/ transfer to a US college to finish your degree.
Imperial physics is a very highly rated degree from employers. Its not worth losing a year for a potential transfer to LSE.
