Are strategy / finance manager roles from IBs typically pay cuts?
I've commonly seen 2 year IB analyst exit to strategy / finance manager roles are start ups / tech companies.
I assume the hours are better than IB, but are these guys taking a substantial cut in comp for it?

Yeah this is the right way to think about it.
no industry finance job is paying a 24 year old $300k or more depending on shop (won’t get a ton of equity at that level anyway)
I've been seeing a strong trend at PE shops for similar roles, isolated from the M&A side, primarily focused strategy, industry, market and portfolio improvement. Similarly, an upbeat in the seeking of consulting backgrounds. Unsure about the pay, but I think its an attractive path.
This is also "innovative PE" through specialization of roles, imo. I think we'll see more with the growth in these roles though the substantial transaction and portfolio volume of the industry and roll-ups.
