Avoiding work during notice period
I would like to resign from IB role soon and am hoping to get walked out so I don’t have to get slammed in the office any more. However I was planning to quit with nothing lined up and thus am worried they will make me sweat throughout the notice period - I heard if you tell them you are joining a competitor you are forced to pack your bags day you resign? Has anyone lied about joining a competitor?
Would be a lot better to give them even just 1 weeks notice than to lie about joining a competitor... they will obviously find out you aren't
Either way, as soon as you quit they will roll you off projects pretty quickly, within the next day or two. Not like they can make you work late at that point.
Unfortunately it’s a 2 month notice period, would’ve loved it if it was just 1 week wouldn’t even think about this
If you don't need any reference from the current firm, stick to regular 9 to 5 workday. Not much they can do for working saner hours in your last two weeks. If your employment contract does not prohibit using PTO during notice period, proceed on a vacation/ break. Also, are you sure there is a notice period? This is more a courtesy, as contracts tend to have an at-will clause i.e., they can fire you or you can quit with no notice.
