Back Office or Investment Banking?
Kid in my firms back office got an investment banking offer...
he has not resigned because he is thinking about the offer... may get in the way of his lsat prep..
I say its a no brainer... did i miss something or is he smartest dumb kid i know?
sounds like he ultimately wants law school... if that's the case, not terrible idea to pursue that path vs IB.. although I know ppl do jump into law after IB
really want law school so interview for banking jobs?
am i lost again?
Half the rabid kids on this forum would probably punch him in the face for making that choice.
Would make for an interesting law school app essay to say the least.
Unless this kid has rich parents and they are paying his way or he can get into the very best Law School I would probably advise against it. If you think BO is bad you haven't heard of contract work in the legal field.

Even at top law schools, competition for large firm jobs is intense. There were a lot of layoffs in the great recession and there are still offer deferrals that are hurting recruitment at big-law firms. I hear this stuff second hand from Columbia law students, but this seems to be the trend from reading blogs including abovethelaw.
Thanks for the 3rd tier link. That was the one I was looking for. I spend hours reading this thing. Engrossing.
Perhaps he is using the offer as leverage to get another firm to interview/give him an offer, and is just using the LSAT as an excuse for the time being (since it certainly sounds better to say you might be taking the LSAT over saying you are looking at other shops)
