Banks contacting other banks regarding your employment status
Quick question everyone. I heard it is illegal for HR at a bank to disclose to other banks whether or not you have accepted their offer if asked? Is this true? My friend told me this information is confidential and even if asked banks can't disclose it to others?

And why would this be illegal? Quick hypo: let's say that you're working in IBD at a BB as an SA one summer and a better BB says that they'll give you a full-time offer if your summer employer gives you one. (This has happened before). How do you think the better BB would verify this info? They would call the other BB. So the answer is no.
or they could you ask you to bring in your offer letter when you get it.
