Barclays IB Recruitment Process

I applied to Barclays' Graduate Analyst (Investment Banking) role in their Mumbai office earlier this month. Gave my SHL test on 4th October but haven't heard back since. From whatever I have read, they send an auto reject mail instantly if you fail the test but luckily I haven't gotten such a mail. When can I expect to hear back from the hiring team and what exactly is the entire recruitment timeline at Barclays like?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Barclays' recruitment process for roles like the Graduate Analyst (Investment Banking) typically involves multiple stages. Here's a breakdown of the process and what you can expect:

  1. Initial Application and SHL Test:

    • After submitting your application, the SHL test is one of the first steps. It's good news that you haven't received an auto-reject email, as it often indicates you've passed the initial screening.
  2. Business Insight Assessment (Stage 1):

    • If you progress, the next step is the Business Insight assessment. This stage involves situational judgment tests, ranking responses to scenarios, and some quantitative analysis. It is untimed but usually takes 35-40 minutes to complete.
  3. Business Insight Assessment (Stage 2):

    • If successful in Stage 1, you'll move to Stage 2, which is more immersive and tailored to the business line you applied for. This stage includes tasks like:
      • Completing a project that reflects real job responsibilities.
      • Answering multiple-choice questions.
      • Recording video responses.
      • Performing calculations and responding to emails based on provided reading material.
This stage typically takes up to 45 minutes.
  4. Assessment Center/Final Interviews:

    • Candidates who pass the Business Insight stages are invited to an assessment center or final interviews. This is where you'll engage in more in-depth evaluations, including case studies, group exercises, and interviews with senior team members.

Timeline Expectations:

  • Post-SHL Test: It can take a few weeks to hear back after the SHL test, depending on the volume of applications and the specific office's timeline. Since you applied earlier this month and completed the test on October 4th, it's reasonable to expect an update within 2-3 weeks from that date.
  • Overall Process: The entire recruitment process, from application to offer, can span several weeks to a few months. If you're concerned about delays, it might be worth reaching out to the recruitment team for an update.

For preparation, consider reviewing Barclays' Business Insight assessments and practicing similar situational judgment and numerical reasoning tests. Thanks for the reply, I had already given a situational judgement test along with my SHL. Does this mean I can expect a HireVue or something else that is role aligned? Or should I await a call to their assesment centre directly?
