Barclays TMT SF vs. NY
Monkeys,
Can anyone shed some light into the differences between the two M&A groups? I would to hear about the cultural differences, analyst class sizes, types of deals, exit opps, etc. I'm assuming compensation is the same. Thanks homies.

SF has a wayyyy better culture. SF office's deal flow is mostly semis.
Is Barclays NY TMT notoriously bad culture? I've read some not so encouraging articles about it, but want to hear first-hand from someone who used to work there or has a close friend who used to.
Also, does bad culture mean worse hours than SF or just worse people to be spending 100 hours a week with?
What kind of deals is Barclays NY TMT doing?
do you know what the exits are like for SF TMT, especially if the analysts are mostly working on semis?
Barclays NY is M&T. SF is Tech. And yes, Barclays NY TMT culture is as bad as everybody says it is. They do get some good exits though, and they have a solid reputation in the space.
Know some people in NY TMT, pretty bad hours, lots of pitching, but their analysts get good looks from HH
I've spoken to VPs that have worked in both offices and they say the culture is drastically different. About one associate a year moves from Barcap NY TMT to Barcap Menlo TMT.
I currently have a close friend who is a FT analyst within Barcap TMT. From what he/she told me, the TMT group WAS indeed a complete sweatshop mainly due to certain senior individuals (staffer included), who made unreasonable demands so on and so forth. Just last year, those individuals left (not sure if it was voluntary or whether they were "managed out") and the culture improved greatly.
He/she did mention that despite the cultural improvement, TMT in general is one of the hardest working groups (along with healthcare) so everyone still works hard. Again this is just from a friend so take this with a grain of salt.
