Incoming IBD Summer Analyst at a upper/mid BB firm, and i was wondering if BBs / background checking agency actually call your university to verify stuff or do they simply request that you send in an official transcript as part of the background check?

how do they verify?
Just don’t lie and you’re good to go. They will confirm your transcript and that you also attend that. Probably won’t check clubs or anything but if you wrote down you were on the varsity sports team you better appear on the roster (or any other easily googled thing. If you say you were in the Olympics, google should say you were). They usually only check school and gpa though.
not op but my major gpa is a 3.9( listed on resume ) however cumulative is like around 3.16 (not listed on resume), and at the application they asked if my gpa is 3.2 or above i clicked yes, I was wondering when they do background checks will they like care about that or no, (got the offer as well so i am assuming i am good)
I think it depends on the wording on your resume. Did you use the term "major gpa" or just "gpa"?
