BB IB Generalist SA Group Selection Process in Asia

Fellow Monkeys,

I'm an Incoming BB IB SA in major Asian city who will work as a generalist, so there's no "sell day". However, I'm pretty sure the FT is with a specific group. I wonder if any Monkey has experience in how the group selection process works.

I mean, do generalist SAs have a sell day after they sign FT offers, or the groups they have worked with get to decide, or something else?

And in any case, what strategies would you recommend if I really want to join one group? I had an interviewer in my most interested group who was nice to me, but am wondering if you would recommend reaching out to him/her this early.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
