BB Lateral Hire - Timing of Offer
Hi all, would like to ask if anyone knows if BBs are giving out offers at this time of the year (sector coverage, associate level), or would they wait till the bonus season before they formally extend an offer? Staffer implied that they may give me an offer a week ago but also asked me about when is my bonus paid etc. Nothing was heard after. Many thanks in advance!
FYI - at my bank (2nd tier BB - think Citi, BAML, CS, UBS, DB, Barclays), headcounts for next year are approved, interview processes have started but offers are extended early next year.
Bump also curious

Yes, I received an offer from a Tier 1 BB mid/senior analyst (non-coverage). And Interviewed with a BB Tier 2 (maybe former tier 2, since past few years have wrecked their public perception, you can guess who) for a principal investing role at analyst level, but ended up going with the former. Got an invite to interview for another Tier 1 BB in a non-coverage position a couple weeks ago but didn't because I had just accepted the other offer.

The only thing that I would suggest is that you network more, if everything else so far hasn't been successful. I went to a non-target, come from a lower-middle class family, I'm 1st-generation, and have no family members (direct or extended) or friends in finance, but I networked my ass off literally, and networked off their network, and so forth. I made sure that I didn't settle for positions on the bottom or middle of the totem pole, because I had already settled for that. I applied and tried to get as close as possible to people who are in positions to affect my candidacy (and those people were in positions that I had genuine interest in trying to climb to). People talk all the time about it being the analysts/associates that decide who passes through the door. I call bs there and say that higher finance is an industry that's built and runs on relationships. If you can sell yourself appropriately to an MD or ED, or SVP that's pretty much all you need. From there, you make the case of that person introducing you to others in similar positions (maybe even on your team, which certainly helps to give you an edge) that are able to move your resume along how they see fit.
