BB made verbal offer but needs 3 weeks to have offer approved internally? - Experienced Hire (London)

Hi,

I received a verbal offer from a BB a week ago. HR talked me through base salary and said they will need to have the offer with total comp approved by the department/firm first before they can give me a formal offer. The person said this would be done last Friday but now they say they can only bring it to the department's attention two weeks from now.

I am wondering, if anyone had experience with a similar situation? It seems to me that they might just be keeping me on the side while interviewing/offering someone else? Or can it really take this long for an offer to be approved internally?

Thanks for your thoughts :-)

Similar London BB experience - when I got my SA offer I first got a verbal offer from some guy who interviewed me and he was basically trying to ascertain if I was interested in accepting the offer. A few days later I got verbal confirmation of the offer from HR who walked me through the salary etc. and said I would officially get the offer (i.e. the contract) in a week. When I got my FT offer they delayed sending the contract for like 3 weeks.

HR tend to be disorganized, I wouldn't worry :)
