BB/Boutique FT Hiring
Hey guys, I'm going to be a senior from a target school and am interning at a MM PE firm this summer. From people I've spoken to at ~BB and from reading in the paper, it looks like the big banks are cutting back hiring big time. Plus most spots will be filled by SA.
I'm looking at boutiques as an option for full time. Do you guys have an idea how many spots are filled for boutiques from SAs vs BBs given market conditions? Any specifics that anyone might know would be great.
Interested.. I think lower mms might be recruiting too. Not sure
Honestly I do not know what you are asking.
But if a bank can hire 100% from their summer analyst class, then they will do that.
By boutiques, do you mean elite boutiques or true boutiques? Elite boutiques have similar recruiting profiles to BB banks; for example, Greenhill had a class of ~12ish and had 10 slots already filled when I interviewed there for FT a while back.
Also, many MM banks hire actively through the FT cycle. At the office where I work, about a third of the analyst class was hired through FT recruiting.

I saw basically every banks earnings go down.
One of my contacts is head of recruiting for a target school at BB. His words verbatim were 'there is no such thing as full-time recruiting anymore.' Now obviously this is a hyperbole, but it shows how ridiculously competitive it is.
