Berkeley: Degree VS GPA

Background info— School: Berkeley, Goal: West Coast BB or EB I'm really pressured to pursue a degree in something tech related or STEM because people keep on saying Economics from Berkeley isn't competitive enough. While, Economics, by no means, is an easy degree, it's slightly less taxing than a STEM degree. Coming from a school like Berkeley, would you do Economics or take advantage of something like CS, which they're really known for.
